Filming on Vikings: Valhalla spin-off ‘delayed for two months’

Vikings: Valhalla
Vikings: Valhalla has reportedly been delayed

Filming has been delayed on the set of Vikings spin-off Valhalla, it has been claimed.

Production was set to continue on the upcoming Netflix series this month, in Wicklow, Ireland.

Bosses have implemented coronavirus guidelines on set, with cast and crew to be tested.

However, according to reports, things have been delayed due to the global pandemic.

BreakingNews.ie states the reason for the move is unclear, but the publication suggested it could be down to strict lockdown rules in the surrounding area.

Vikings: Valhalla will pick up around 100 years after the end of the original cult series, as the age of Vikings is coming to an end.

Little is known about the plot, but it will feature the tales of several real historical figures, including the son of Erik the Red Leif Erikson and William the Conqueror.

Show creator Michael Hirst teased that it will be ‘more of a thriller’ than the original episodes we’ve become obsessed with.

While we’re still a long way off a release date, Frida Gustavsson, Sam Corlett and Leo Suter have already been named in the cast.

The Witcher actress Frida is starring as Freydis Eriksson, who is described as being ‘fiercely pagan, fiery and headstrong’, while Sam has been cast as Leif Eriksson, a Greenlander who is ‘an intrepid sailor and physically tough’.

Elsewhere, Game of Thrones’ Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson will play Harald Sigurdsson’s older half-brother Olaf Haraldson.
