This Morning’s Matthew Wright has waded into the BBC Breakfast Union Jack row by mocking the entire situation with his own tiny flags.
The presenter, who appeared on the show to chat to Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, proudly displayed his flags in shot.
‘What’s going on there with your flags, Matthew?’ Alison asked, with the 55-year-old quipping: ‘Flags and the size of flags is important and I thought that this is the time to show mine to the world.’
The cheeky comment comes after after Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick appeared on BBC Breakfast with a huge Union Jack in the background of his interview.
Wrapping up the interview, presenter Charlie Stayt couldn’t resist commenting, joking: ‘I think your flag is not up to standard size government interview measurements.
‘I think it’s just a little bit small, but that’s your department really!’

While his co-star Naga Munchetty was left in stitches at the time, she later apologised for liking ‘offensive’ tweets about the Union Jack.
‘I ‘liked’ tweets today that were offensive in nature about the use of the British flag as a backdrop in a government interview this morning,’ she penned on Twitter.
‘I have since removed these ‘likes’. This do not represent the views of me or the BBC. I apologise for any offence taken. Naga.’
It followed new guidelines for BBC news staff over their use of social media, with new director-general Tim Davie warning employees in September to be mindful of new impartiality rules.
She and Charlie have since returned to BBC Breakfast, with neither of them addressing the incident.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV, while BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
