Strictly Come Dancing bosses are said to be keen to sign Stacey Solomon for the upcoming 2021 series.

The Loose Women star had been rumoured for the last competition, however strict coronavirus rules meant that she would have had to have spent a long time away from home and away from her young children; Zachary, 13, Leighton, eight, and Rex, one.

With the roadmap out of lockdown and the pandemic suggesting that their could be no social distancing measures coms June 21, there’s a chance that Stacey would be interested in taking to the ballroom this time around.

‘Stacey’s name was in the frame for Strictly last year but she didn’t want to quarantine away from her kids,’ an insider said.

‘The pandemic meant she wanted to be at home as much as possible to home-school her eldest two boys and because her youngest Rex was still a baby.’

The source continued to The Sun: ‘Now things are on the roadmap to getting back to normal, Stacey is much more open to the idea of making the serious commitment which Strictly requires.’

Details of this year’s Strictly currently remain under wraps, however, Metro.co.uk understands that the BBC is set to confirm the professional dancers’ line-up in due course.

There has been mounting speculation as to whether Oti Mabuse will be returning to the series after it was announced she had signed up to be a judge on ITV’s The Masked Dancer.

In a recent interview, Oti refused to confirm her place on Strictly, saying: ‘I can’t say yes as to whether I’m going back or not. So, everybody will have to wait and see to find out what is going on. But it is nice to be spoken about…right?’

BBC declined to comment when approached by Metro.co.uk.
