WWE is just weeks away from WrestleMania 37 as fans return for the first time in over a year – but first, there’s the small matter of Fastlane.

Even a few days ago, the company’s annual roadblock on the Road to WrestleMania seemed to be the very definition of a filler show, but Friday night’s episode of SmackDown it’s suddenly looking like a can’t miss event in its own right.

Now, the card boasts four championship clashes, including Roman Reigns putting his precious Universal Title on the line against Daniel Bryan, with 2021 Royal Rumble winner Edge waiting in the wings – and acting as the special guest enforcer for a bout he has high stakes in.

There’s also the potential for at least two or three early Match of the Year contenders, and the possibility of a big return as Alexa Bliss battles Randy Orton.

As ever, we’ve put together our monthly guide with full match card, streaming details and more.

Here’s what you need to know…

When is WWE Fastlane 2021?

WWE Fastlane takes place on tonight (Sunday, March 21) with all the action on the main card kicking off at the earlier time of 11pm for fans in the UK, thanks to the clocks already going back in the US.

How can you watch WWE Fastlane 2021?

As ever, the WWE ThunderDome application has come and gone pretty quickly – so let us talk you through the usual ways to tune in.

Of course, there will be a Kickoff show available on the WWE Network, WWE.com, the WWE app, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch at 10pm.

For fans in the UK, you can tune into the main Fastlane show by either streaming live or watching on demand via the WWE Network – or order the event via BT Sport Box Office.

As an aside, for the United States this will mark the first pay-per-view on Peacock after the WWE Network was essentially shut down in the US and moved over to the streaming platform.

WWE Fastlane 2021 full match card

There’s a lot set for this, with almost every match with the chance of stealing the show in very different ways.

Here’s what’s on tap…

  • Universal Title: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (with Edge as special guest enforcer)
  • Women’s Tag Team Titles: Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair
  • Intercontinental Title: Big E (c) vs. Apollo Crews
  • No Holds Barred: Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus
  • Inter-gender Match: Alexa Bliss vs. Randy Orton
  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins
  • Unite States Title: Riddle (c) vs. Mustafa Ali

What can you expect from WWE Fastlane 2021?

No matter how the weekly Raw and SmackDown shows – particularly the former – seem to go, one thing WWE fans can count on is a quality pay-per-view.

For months now, the company has been on a great run of cards either delivering or exceeding even the highest expectations with top level in-ring action and storyline development.

Look for more of the same tonight with a card that looks incredibly strong on paper, and will massively shape the WrestleMania 37 landscape.

In the Universal Championship match, it’s a rare situation where a non-finish wouldn’t be a bad thing, with Edge potentially getting involved to set up a Triple Threat match for the gold at WrestleMania.

Similarly, Bobby Lashley could cost Drew McIntyre his rubber match with Sheamus to add heat to his and the Scotsman’s upcoming WWE Title match, but this could also be done once the bell has rung.

For the Women’s Tag Team Title match, WWE have booked themselves into a corner with Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair absolutely not needing the complication of the belts this close to their ‘Mania match – but they also can’t afford to lose.

Meanwhile, Big E and Apollo Crews’ rivalry has really heated up with both men producing some of their best work, so some kind of screwy ending – maybe the latter cheating to steal the IC Title or getting disqualified – would be great to set up a deserving WrestleMania showdown.

The big question mark is Alexa Bliss and Randy Orton, which will no doubt not be a straight-up match although it’s not clear how WWE will handle it.

What you could be almost certain of is this is the prime time for The Fiend to make his long-awaited comeback after being burned alive by the Legend Killer at TLC in December.

Elsewhere, Riddle will likely retain his title with Mustafa Ali’s rants at his RETRIBUTION followers pushing them – especially T-Bar – towards breaking point, and Seth Rollins should beat Shinsuke Nakamura before moving onto Cesaro.
