The latest Animal Crossing: New Horizons update has sparked a wave of custom-made umbrellas from creative players.

It’s been over a year since Animal Crossing: New Horizons released and captured everyone’s hearts and Nintendo celebrated the occasion with an anniversary update.

One of the key additions was an upgrade to the Custom Design app, which allows players to add their designs to all manner of items, from flags and photo stands to umbrellas. And that last one appears to have generated a new trend.

It kicked off following an umbrella design shared by @yamaji_maya on Twitter, which is an optical illusion that makes the umbrella look like a cat kennel.

Apparently, people loved the design so much that they went and made more of them for different cat breeds, which can be viewed on their Twitter account alongside codes for how to download them.

A cursory glance on Twitter shows they’re not the only one flexing their creative muscles. More people have taken a shot at making similar illusions to add some unique character to their homes, while others are just showing off cool designs of their own. Fan site Animal Crossing World has even compiled a giant list of them.

As for future updates, no doubt Nintendo intends to keep supporting the game for years to come, especially with it on its way to become the most successful game on the Nintendo Switch.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available exclusively on Switch.
