Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty reveals he’s back in hospital and struggling to breathe amid Covid battle

Paddy Doherty has revealed he’s been rushed back to hospital again, after struggling to breathe.

The Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star, 62, shared a video from his hospital bed in the early hours of the morning to update fans on his condition, following his battle with coronavirus.

Paddy had difficulties speaking, as he revealed he was having issues with his lungs, while using oxygen to help him breathe.

In a clip shared to Facebook, Paddy explained: ‘I’m back again. I’m short of breath. You’re not going to believe this my f**king lungs – god forgive us for cursing.’

He added: ‘I’m hoping to be out later on. It’s 3 o’clock in the morning, there’s nothing wrong with me, it’s just my lungs. I tell you, I’m worse than a cat.’

It’s the third time Paddy has been admitted to hospital since testing positive for Covid-19 two months ago.

Last month, he was hospitalised for being short of breath just three weeks after contracting coronavirus.

‘Covid is so strict as f**k, f*****ng Covid is, God, forgive me for swearing. I’m just short of breath that’s it and I came in,’ he said in a video he posted at the time.

‘Back in, but I’ll be out in the morning, just be careful everyone,’ Paddy warned.

He joked: ‘I’m worse than a cat. A cat’s got seven lives, I’ve got 100 lives.’

Paddy was diagnosed with the virus in January and was seriously ill after contracting Covid and also battling double pneumonia at the same time.

His wife, Roseanne Doherty, had confirmed his hospitalisation, with Paddy later reaching out to fans and thanking them for their prayers in a breathless update from his hospital bed.

He warned that coronavirus is ‘no joke’ as he urged fans to stick to protocols in place to keep them safe, like social distancing.

‘I give thanks and prayers to everyone and thank my god. I am a bit on the weak side and all that but I’m alive,’ Paddy said.

‘I always say your life and your strength is a lottery, then you’ve got everything. So I want to say to everyone, this is not a joke, it’s far from a wisecrack. Be careful, keep your distance, I know it’s easier said than done.’

Paddy’s manager revealed the severity of the reality star’s condition at the time, as they told PA: ‘He was exhausted and was lying in bed for two days. On the Wednesday his wife said to him, “Look, come on, you are really ill, we need to get help”.

‘The ambulance came out and they said if you don’t get in there’s a chance you might not wake up.’

Paddy, a former bare-knuckle boxer, is best known for starring in Channel 4 docu-series My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding that followed the lives of Irish Traveller families.

He has also appeared on Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men in 2009 and finished as a runner-up on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011.
