Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War basically confirms new Outbreak map

Developer Treyarch has seemingly confirmed that another map is coming to Cold War’s Outbreak mode and fans have already guessed what it is.

Aside from finally adding zombies to Call Of Duty: Warzone, possibly the biggest inclusion in Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s second season of content was the zombie-related mode Outbreak.

An objective-based mode, Outbreak technically takes place across multiple maps. Once an objective is completed on one of them, you and your team can move to another to take on a new mission there for further rewards.

Currently, Outbreak only has three maps, but developer Treyarch’s Twitter account has more or less confirmed that another map is going to be added in a rather unambiguous post.

The tweet includes a GIF of the portal effect when you move from one map to another and, if some of the responses are anything to go by, it reveals exactly which map is being added.

According to a few fans, the map is Sanatorium, which was first added to Cold War during Season 1. Even without the footage, it was probably always a safe bet that Sanatorium would be included as it’s set in the Ural Mountains, the same setting used for Outbreak.

It’s also the only map used for the Fireteam mode that’s absent from Outbreak. Fireteam’s other three maps – Alpine, Golova, and Ruka – are all featured in Outbreak and set in the Ural Mountains as well.

As for when it will be added, that’s not known. But, considering Season Two began less than a month ago, you can probably expect a mid-season update some time very soon, which will likely include the map.

Season One began midway through December, with its mid-season update coming roughly a month afterwards in the middle of January, so the timing would match.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
