Line of Duty series 6: Fans think they’ve worked out the final bent copper behind H after episode 1
Line Of Duty fans are convinced they’ve correctly identified the final bent copper after watching the first episode of series 6 last night.
The acclaimed Jed Mercurio police drama returned yesterday, bringing Martin Compston’s DS Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure’s DI Kate Fleming and Adrian Dunbar’s Superintendent Ted Hastings back into our lives and introducing audiences to newcomer DCI Joanne Davidson (played by Kelly Macdonald).
At the very end of series five, all the ‘H’ signs were pointing to Hastings, but Kate and Steve worked tirelessly to clear him of all allegations at the last minute.
So far, three caddies, Derek Hilton (Paul Higgins), Gill Biggeloe (Polly Walker) and Dot Cottan (Craig Parkinson), have already had their covers blown.
Dot revealed in his dying declaration that there are actually four, ‘H’, officers in the force, and while the final elusive corrupt senior officer currently remains at large, viewers are certain that DCI Ian Buckells (Nigel Boyle) is the crook.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed in last night’s scenes that Ian had golf clubs stashed in his office and given everything we already know about H, they immediately linked the two together.
Could this be glaring evidence that Ian is another caddy?
Taking to Twitter to share their findings, one user wrote: ‘Buckles is H. We already know him. He gets promoted faster than anyone else. He’s not really competent yet flies up the ladder. Always called in on ops involving bent coppers. HAS GOLF CLUBS IN HIS OFFICE.’
Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘Didn’t know Buckles plays golf? H Caddy.’
There have been some wild theories about the identity of H, some of which are overreaching, while others have a little more weight to them.
One such theory suggested that H is actually a building.
Line Of Duty airs Sundays at 9pm on BBC One.
