Lookalikes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have complained they’ve seen a drop in bookings as a result of the pair’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Two Meghans and two Harry’s appeared on This Morning today, discussing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and how their move to Los Angeles has seen the demand for them dwindle.

Sarah Mhlanga, an actress who was cornered in an Ikea due to her resemblance to Meghan, said that she was also being attacked by trolls who have issues with the real Duchess.

‘I would never say it was that lucrative, it’s mainly a hobby and a chance for me to exercise my skills and my talents, but after the interview there definitely was less call for me to play Meghan, and less gigs,’ she said.

‘I started a podcast a couple of weeks ago to celebrate my resemblance to Meghan and the similarities we have and share a bit more about myself.

‘But after the podcast I started to get messages saying, “She’s just an attention seeker, I hate her, she’s horrible, she’s a menace, we’ve never liked her from the start.”

‘That really hurt me. Although we’re different people, I still represent her, I still play her.

‘I’m a mother also, so I thought it was something horrible to say to another mother.’

She added it was ‘inappropriate’ to use her as a punching bad for frustrations against Meghan.

Henry Morley, a mechanic who received up to £2,500 per appearance following Prince Harry’s wedding day, said he had jobs cancel on him by companies who thought his appearances would be bad for their branding.

‘I was supposed to be doing an induction but bad press relating to Meghan, at the last minute they just shut down the job, obviously because they didn’t want to be associated with the Royals at that time,’ he said.

‘Obviously it’s all about advertising and you don’t want to be associated with something if it’s bad press.’

‘I think you always when you take on a role like the city putting yourself out there and you know you’re going to accept the good with the bad,’ added Sylvia Aliford, who primarily works as a primary school teacher.

‘But you are still worried, especially with the way that the public has seen her now. I would be quite worried to go out into an event, a live event, where before we’d be having photographs with 1200 people.

‘I would be quite nervous about that the sort of feedback I’d get from them.’

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
