Rita Ora casually reveals she’s been hanging out with Idris Elba in Sydney as she shares ‘favourite moments’
When she’s not busy filming for The Voice Australia, Rita Ora has been spending her time in Sydney hanging out one pretty famous face – Idris Elba.
The singer, 30, headed down under at the beginning of last month, ahead of filming as a celebrity coach for The Voice Australia’s tenth season, alongside Keith Urban, Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy.
After spending her first two weeks in Sydney in quarantine due to protocols in place amid the pandemic, Rita is now making the most of her time overseas and shared a weekend update with fans.
As well as a few selfies, bikini shots and beach snaps, Rita casually included a snap of Luther star Idris and his wife Sabrina – proving that she’s been hanging out with the pair.
They were seen catching up over drinks, with Idris and Sabrina posing for a photo it looks like Rita had taken in a cutely lit garden. She captioned her post: ‘My weekend and then some of my favourite moments pt 1.’
Idris is currently in Sydney filming for Three Thousand Years of Longing.
Filming got underway for the movie in November in Australia, after initially being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Production is set to take place in Turkey and the UK too, with Idris starring alongside Tilda Swinton in the film, described as an epic romance, that follows a scholar who crosses paths with a Djinn (a genie) and offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
Rita, meanwhile, has headed to Sydney after coming under fire for breaking lockdown rules in London to celebrate her 30th birthday four months ago.
The I Will Never Let You Down hit-maker threw a birthday dinner for herself and a group of friends at a restaurant in Notting Hill – later receiving a fine and issuing an apology.
The restaurant, Casa Cruz, had its license suspended for six-weeks.
‘It was a spur of the moment decision made with the misguided view that we were coming out of lockdown and this would be OK… I’m deeply sorry for breaking the rules and in turn understand that this puts people at risk,’ she said in a statement.
‘This was a serious and inexcusable error of judgement. Given the restrictions, I realise how irresponsible these actions were and I take full responsibility.’
Rita continued: ‘I feel particularly embarrassed knowing first-hand how hard people have worked to combat this terrible illness and being fully aware of the sacrifices that people and businesses have made to help keep us all safe. Even though this won’t make it right, I want to sincerely apologise.’
Rita was then forced to apologise for a second time after it was revealed she was supposed to be quarantining at the time of her birthday dinner, after returning from Egypt just days prior.
She encouraged others to ‘learn from my mistakes’ and to be ‘better than I have been’.
