AJ Pritchard has revealed that his girlfriend Abbie Quinnen will have ‘small scars’ after she suffered third-degree burns in a horror accident at home.

The Strictly Come Dancing star has shared an update on Abbie’s health, revealing that the skin grafts she underwent have been successful.

Abbie, 23, was admitted into Chelsea and Westminster’s specialist burns unit after she became engulfed in flames while filming a ‘life hack’ for social media.

The couple were aiming to show how to cut a glass bottle in half to use it as a vase. The stunt involves dipping a rope into a flammable chemical, wrapping it around the bottle and lighting a flame.

However, the glass exploded during the dangerous stunt and Abbie’s upper body was burnt. She has required treatment for the past seven weeks.

AJ, 26, told The Sun: ‘There are different areas, and there are different degrees of burn and she will have a small scar in certain areas.

‘But, as with time, they will heal and other areas will heal. I think the most important thing was that the skin grafts worked.’

He added that there will be ‘small marks’ on her body but ‘everything’s going really, really well’.

He added that seeing his girlfriend in such danger was ‘traumatic’ for him.

Abbie herself meanwhile thanked her friends and social media followers for their support on Sunday.

She wrote: ‘I’m so overwhelmed with all your love and support…thank you all so very much! It means a lot.’

She went on to post Instagram messages from her friends, with one describing her as ‘the bravest person I know’.

Another said: ‘My girls been to hell and back, but you’re the strongest there is and have the best support system behind you.’

It came after an earlier statement she made detailing how the incident happened.

She warned: ‘I really need you all to be so careful with what you’re doing & if you are copying any YouTube videos, I will be ok! I love you all!’
