Captain Kirk star William Shatner proves he does not age as he turns 90 and spends birthday weekend with ex-wife

EXCLUSIVE: Exes reunited! William Shatner and ex-wife Elizabeth Martin spotted together during the iconic actor's 90th birthday weekend in California. Despite the on-off couple finalizing their divorce after 18 years of marriage last year, it seems they can't break apart for long. As part of their prenuptial agreement, Shatner paid Martin a whopping lump sum of $2 million. Last November, rumors swirled that the two were spending time together again after Shatner was spotted horseriding with a lookalike. It wasn't clear whether the brunette was, in fact. Elizabeth. On Sunday, the day before the Star Trek icon's big birthday, they were seen around Los Angeles in his car. Shatner wore a blue T-shirt at the wheel while Elizabeth, 62, wore her face mask and large sparkly earrings. William Shatner has proven he basically doesn’t age, as he was seen looking oh-so youthful still while celebrating his 90th birthday.

Captain Kirk, tell us your secrets.

The Star Trek actor turned 90 years old on Monday and rang in his milestone birthday with his ex-wife Elizabeth Martin, 62, as the pair were spotted heading out on a drive in California.

William looked relaxed in a baseball cap and shades behind the wheel, while Elizabeth sat beside him wearing glasses and face mask pulled down around her chin.

The former couple split in 2019, after 18-years of marriage and their divorce was finalised in March last year, with William paying Elizabeth $2million (£1.45m) as part of their prenuptial agreement.

Despite their split, the pair have been seen spending time together in recent months – sparking reconciliation rumours, although neither have addressed the speculation.

Shatner previously said he was ‘very lucky’ to have met ex-wife Elizabeth (Picture: Rex)

William’s marriage to Elizabeth was the fourth time he had wed.

The veteran TV star and movie talent first married ex-wife Gloria in 1956 and they share three daughters together; Leslie, Lisabeth and Melanie. The pair divorced in 1969.

William was then married to Marcy Lafferty between 1973 and 1996 and later tied the knot with third wife Nerine Kidd in 1997.

They were married for two years before she died in 1999. Nerine was aged 40 when she died, with her cause of death later revealed as accidental drowning.

Two years later he remarried and wed Elizabeth, who he later said he was ‘very lucky’ to have met.

In an interview with the Guardian in 2014, William gushed: ‘I was attracted by her beauty first of all, which was an old syndrome for me … and I think I lucked out because she had so many other qualities as well.

‘Elizabeth has a great sense of humour and a great sense of adventure and she’s very nurturing. That combination of beauty, style, intelligence, humour and loving horses and dogs and children and loving her home and making a home for us, is quite a combination. So I’ve been very lucky because all that happened by accident. Love is what makes the cold universe warm.’

Shatner is best known for his role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek (Picture: Rex)

William has starred in hit US sitcom The Big Bang Theory and movies including Miss Congeniality, The Butler’s Night Off, Loaded Weapon 1, Land Of No Return and American Psycho 2, but he is probably best known for his role as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek franchise.

The legendary actor first appeared onscreen as the character in 1966 and was last depicted as Captain Kirk on film in 1994 title Generations, where he was killed off while trying to stop a deadly missile.

However, fans are constantly calling for Captain Kirk to make a comeback and Shatner revealed that he would be up for reprising the role.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Shatner said: ‘If they wrote it and it made reasonable sense then I’d love to [revive Captain Kirk].’

‘I wouldn’t do a series,’ he revealed, but added: ‘If the role was written properly and it wasn’t a cameo or gratuitous; being there just to show my face, I wouldn’t do that.’
