In a grand show of unity, everybody banded together over the weekend to relentlessly mock Orlando Bloom and his breakfast routine after that unintentionally hilarious Day in the Life piece.

And it turns out, Orlando’s family and friends have joined in as well.

The actor has admitted he is a ‘running joke’ among his family and friends after regaling the Sunday Times with his ‘quite LA’ morning routine.

In case you missed it, Orlando told the newspaper about what he does in a day, from checking his sleep tracker at 6.30am to ‘eye-gazing’ with daughter Daisy Dove, to chanting for 20 minutes.

However, it was ‘earning his breakfast’ that made the article go viral, as the 44-year-old wrote: ‘I like to earn my breakfast so I’ll just have some green powders that I mix with brain octane oil, a collagen powder for my hair and nails, and some protein. It’s all quite LA, really. Then I’ll go for a hike while I listen to some Nirvana or Stone Temple Pilots.

‘By 9am it’s breakfast, which is usually porridge, a little hazelnut milk, cinnamon, vanilla paste, hazelnuts, goji berries, a vegan protein powder and a cup of PG Tips. I’m 90 per cent plant-based, so I’ll only eat a really good piece of red meat maybe once a month. I sometimes look at a cow and think, that’s the most beautiful thing ever.’

Orlando appeared on Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show to promote his new film Retaliation, and Chris had to bring up his breakfast routine.

The Pirate of the Caribbean star laughed: ‘Don’t start. I’ve been the running joke of just about everybody, between my friend groups and my families. When you read that out loud…

‘I mean, I was asked, what was my porridge recipe, and by the way, vanilla in your porridge will take it to the next level. Trust me, Chris.’

Chris asked Orlando about the ‘brain octane oil’ he mixed with green powders, with Orlando saying: ‘That’s really just two teaspoons of sugar, don’t tell anybody.’

The star also claimed that the journalist he had been speaking to said: ‘Oh don’t worry, we’re all doing that in the UK now.’

Orlando, who was born in Canterbury, now lives in Los Angeles with his fiancée Katy Perry and their six-month-old daughter; he is also dad to 10-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

But while some of his new routines are incredibly LA, some of his longest-running staples were borne of the UK.

After sharing that he chants for 20 minutes every day ‘religiously’, Orlando told Chris that he began a Buddhist practice when he was studying art in London.

He said: ‘I was studying art at school in London. I’d been confirmed in a cathedral by the Archbishop of Canterbury, which was kind of a big deal. I didn’t have a church in London and I’ve always been a bit spiritual.

‘I met this artist and he was a Buddhist and he was chanting in the other room while he was teaching me to paint. And one day I walked in and I said, well, will it help? When he goes, “yeah”. I said, “what are you doing?” And he said “I’m chanting that you’re going to do really well in your exams and you’re going to have a great life”. And I said, “oh, great, will it help?” He said “yes” so I got down on my knees and I started chanting. And that was it.

‘I just did it and I just kept doing it. It’s just been a bit of a handbook for me. It’s been like a little bit of a roadmap. You don’t really get a roadmap in life… it’s been very grounding.’
