Jessica Simpson has revealed she was ‘saddened beyond belief’ when Nick Lachey started dating again after their divorce.

The 40-year-old opened up about the years after her marriage to Nick, which lasted from 2002 until 2006.

In a new entry from the paperback edition of her 2020 memoir, Open Book, the With You singer revealed her shock at just how fast her ex moved on from their romance with his now-wife Vanessa Minnillo.

‘So, Nick, you’re with another already? Seems that you forgot the love you spoke to me. I’m saddened beyond belief. Alone in the dark, with no one to call my own,’ she wrote in a previously-unseen journal entry.

Jessica didn’t actually name Vanessa, 40, in the new diary entry, but the timing of the former MTV star and Nick’s relationship appears to coincide with the reference.

The I Wanna Love You Forever singer previously revealed recently that she and her ex hooked up one last time in 2006, just before their divorce was finalized in June of that year.

Nick, 47, started dating Vanessa in November 2006 after his split from Jessica and the pair went on to tie the knot in 2011.

The couple – who co-host Netflix’s Love Is Blind – are parents to their kids Camden, eight, Brooklyn, six, and four-year-old Phoenix.

Jessica eventually went on to marry her husband Eric Johnson and the pair share children Maxwell, eight, Ace, seven, and two-year-old Birdie.

The paperback edition of Open Book is available now.
