Loose Women panelist Janet Street-Porter has slammed Orlando Bloom as a ‘complete idiot’ over his bizarre and widely-mocked morning routine.

During a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando opened up about how he spends his mornings, explaining that he likes to ‘earn’ his breakfast and enjoys porridge with ‘a little hazelnut milk, cinnamon, vanilla paste, hazelnuts, goji berries, a vegan protein powder’, in addition to a cup of PG Tips.

At another point in the interview, he stated, when discussing his predominantly plant-based diet: ‘I’ll only eat a really good piece of red meat, maybe once a month. I sometimes look at a cow and think, that’s the most beautiful thing ever.’

After the interview went viral on social media, with several people expressing their incredulity that it was actually real, the Loose Women panel reacted to Orlando’s revelations.

Speaking on Tuesday’s midday show, broadcaster Janet said: ‘Orlando Bloom is one of those people who takes himself so seriously, it’s all about me, me, me, me, me.

‘So he likes to “earn” his breakfast by doing a morning hike and chanting for 20 minutes. I mean I’m listening to this and I’m thinking – it’s been widely mocked on social media by the way – he couldn’t have a normal breakfast, he has to have green powders that he mixes with a brain octane oil, a collagen powder and protein.’

After deriding the fact that Orlando said that he often likes to watch a ‘movie or a documentary for work’ in the evening, Janet added: ‘Do you know what Orlando? I’ve got news for you. You are a complete idiot. I just can’t believe it.’

Janet added that she was choosing her words ‘with care’, hinting that her commentary could be even harsher.

After remarking that fellow Loose Women star Ruth was being ‘nice’ when reacting to Orlando’s morning routine, Janet asked: ‘Can’t you just admit he’s a little bit pompous?

Ruth then very lightly came to Orlando’s defence, stating: ‘Well it’s just that, it’s kind of that American… you know, they all live on wheatgrass and things,’ as Frankie Bridge laughed in the background.

When Frankie remarked that she thinks Orlando could be ‘Janet’s celebrity crush’, she responded emphatically: ‘So not!’

Recalling a past partner she had who ‘sprung out of bed in the morning’ and would do a series of intense exercises first thing, Janet stated: ‘There’s never been a greater turn off.’

During an appearance on Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show following the publication of the Sunday Times interview, Orlando admitted that even his friends and family are laughing at him over his peculiar morning routine.

‘I’ve been the running joke of just about everybody, between my friend groups and my families. When you read that out loud…’ he said in good humour.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
