Married at First Sight Australia star Elizabeth Sobinoff has revealed that she is ‘haunted everyday’ by Sam Ball’s cruel comments about her weight.

It comes after Elizabeth was body-shamed on her big day, with her partner Sam saying he’d ‘never dated a girl as big as her’ and urging her to ‘get running in the mornings’.

The reunion show for the series, which is due to air in the UK later this year, saw the 30-year-old open up about the jibe and say she is still called ‘the fat one’ as a result.

Speaking about Sam’s comments, Elizabeth said: ‘I would not give him the time of day. I can’t forgive the way I was treated.

‘It does need to be said, his comments have trickled over – I don’t think I ever will be able to escape that.’

Speaking about the impact that the comments had, the reality star added: ‘Every day even on my Instagram or walking down the street, not a day goes by that my weight is not questioned, thanks to this person. I will never forgive that person.’

‘His comments and him not apologising and acting like it’s not a big deal. It is, every day I can never escape that. I will always be known as the former fat girl.’

She spoke about her change in appearance since her time on the show, having lost more than a stone and a half since the programme was filmed.

‘I look different then and I look different now and I am someone who has always experimented but now that’s something that I can’t ever leave behind, I am so crucified for it no matter what.

‘So he does not deserve anything to be honest. I will never forgive that behaviour ever.’

Elizabeth hit the gym to ‘reduce stress’ after the show, and also swapped her blonde hair for a new brunette look.

Speaking about her appearance on the show, she said: ‘It’s still very much me. I know people are going to say, “Well, you look completely different to how we saw you [on the show]” – but don’t always focus on the outer shell.

‘This has always been me. We grow, as people. I don’t glorify weight [loss] and be like, “I’m better now”.’

Elizabeth has appeared on MAFS Australia twice – first making her debut in season six, where she married Sam, and then returning for season seven and tying the knot with Seb Guilhaus.

Married At First Sight Australia is available to stream on All4 now.
