Britney Spears fans have been left wondering about the significance of the word ‘red’ in the singer’s latest Instagram posts – which were entirely devoid of the colour.

The Toxic star, 39, shared a series of snaps and a video of her striking poses in a black see-through lace top, shorts and tights as she told her fans: ‘Twisted Elegance … introducing RED,’ along with a red rose, kiss mark and two lipstick emojis.

She then added: ‘No lipstick … blush … or foundation cause I was in a rush… but you get the idea!!!!! RED!!!!!’

Fans were quick to hop on the comments to say: ‘There is nothing red in this video’ and ‘What is red?! There’s nothing red?!’

They added: ‘There’s literally no red here friend…’, ‘Trying to look for signs like’ and ‘What is red a signal for. What are you trying to tell us.’

Others suggested that Red would make a good album title if Britney were to release new music.

Britney later added a photo of a pair of lips with red lipstick and red nails, keeping up the mysterious theme and keeping fans guessing.

Fans have been searching for ‘clues’ in Britney’s social media posts as her conservatorship case rolls on, with the #FreeBritney movement dedicated to getting her removed from the order, which she has been under since 2008.

Their belief that Britney has been sending cryptic messages in her posts was discussed during the Framing Britney Spears documentary which charted her 13-year conservatorship.

Her latest snaps come after insiders claimed that Britney was considering doing a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview.

However, a source later told Us Weekly: ‘The report about Britney considering a tell-all is greatly exaggerated and essentially giving false hope to the fans who tweeted calls for it after the Harry and Meghan interview

‘Britney would like to tell her story and has always wanted to write a memoir, but the conservatorship makes that difficult and it’s not something on her immediate radar, anyway.’
