Paloma Faith shares candid post one month after second child’s birth as she reveals both she and baby have thrush
Sharing an incredibly candid insight into her pregnancy, Paloma Faith has continued to serve up the realness after welcoming her second baby a month ago, revealing overnight the pair are currently dealing with a bout of thrush.
The singer, 39, welcomed her second child with boyfriend Leyman Lahcine in February – they were already parents to a four-year-old – and is keeping us up to date on her journey thus far.
Opening up on the harder times of parenthood, however, Paloma has shared an update alongside a photo of her newborn, insisting that ‘nothing is straightforward’ and they’d both come down with thrush – which is an infection caused by a fungus called Candida and is common babies, who can then pass it onto their mothers.
Alongside the sweet image of her baby’s hand, the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer wrote: ‘It’s been a month! Obviously nothing is straight forward. We both have thrush (my nipples, her mouth), have been on Daktarin gel for her and Daktacort for me, plus Fluconodzole 50mg tablet (daily for a week now) and probiotics – and it feels like it’s just getting worse!
‘WHERE IS THE MIRACLE CURE PLEASE?!
‘I’m not very patient so all this ‘try this try that’ with newborns is very challenging for me. I like instant solutions!’
Sharing an insight into how her baby is getting on, she added: ‘Bubs is doing well and started to open her eyes and really look now, which is wonderful.
‘Reflux still in full force and trying to learn some upright feeding positions now that she is bigger. Don’t want to try the prescription meds, all the media about them is too scary.
‘Had a day yesterday where all I wanted to do was cry. I’m starting to get twitchy about being able to exercise but have to wait for the 6 week sign off….. TWO TO GO!
‘Finding it hard to be good with my eating and breastfeeding at the same time as it just makes you hungry!’
Paloma has been keeping fans updated on motherhood through her Instagram, recently revealing she was in agony with ‘rock hard boobs’ after an acute engorgement diagnosis.
She explained acute engorgement is when the breasts are over-full with milk, resulting in them feeling heavy, swollen, and painful.
Sharing a photo of her breasts covered with cabbage leaves (a remedy fans also suggested in the comments), Paloma wrote on Instagram: ‘Day 3 and my milk has come in….. I’ve been diagnosed with acute engorgement.
‘This means I have too much milk and the baby isn’t big or strong enough to drain it and get it out. It’s painful. The boobs are rock hard. I’m trying massage while feeding, it hurts so much like a deep tissue massage and not much is helping.
‘Hot showers/massage/hand expressing and poor baby is really over it with the exhausting hard work she needs to do to get the milk out of all those swollen blocked ducts.
‘I’ve been told it should settle. Let’s hope I don’t end up in a and e with it before that! This is some next level pain! Mum life is REALLLLLLL.’
Paloma and her partner welcomed their first child in 2016 and announced they were expecting a second in September 2020, with the star opening up about her journey with IVF.
