Piers Morgan has officially bid farewell to Good Morning Britain, after packing up at ITV.

Earlier this month, the 55-year-old quit his role as co-host of GMB, after his comments about Meghan Markle received 41,000 Ofcom complaints.

Piers tweeted a picture of his office in White City in London, having packed up all his belongings in a number of large removal boxes.

However, he said he would not be taking with him a cardboard cut-out of co-host Susanna Reid in a red sequinned dress – although, we do wonder why he had that in his office in the first place.

The star tweeted: ‘Goodbye, Good Morning Britain! (I think I’ll leave the cardboard cut-out, would be a bit creepy to take that home…)’

Fans wished Piers well, while GMB series director Erron Gordon tweeted: ‘Thanks for all the fun and support over the past 6 years @piersmorgan it’s been a blast mate! Bonne chance!’

Susanna didn’t comment on her cut-out being left behind, but tweeted: ‘End of an era. Thank you for five incredible years of rows, rants & reasons to eye-roll.’

This comes after Piers shared a ‘perfect summary of what went down’ in the lead up to his departure.

He quote-tweeted posts from US radio host Darik, adding: ‘Thank you. This is a perfect summary of what went down.’

Darik had written: ‘I’ll tell you why I respect @piersmorgan, irrespective of whether or not I agree with him: He said something, meant it sincerely, was attacked for it, then stuck by his guns, accepted consequences. He owned what he said & he meant it. I can’t fault him for that.

‘He clearly has contempt for Harry and Meghan. OK. We can see that bias exists. But the man is entitled to his opinions and convictions. Must the sanctimonious intolerance brigade always pounce on people with unpopular opinions?’

Piers had questioned Meghan following her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, saying he did not believe the Duchess of Sussex when she said she was refused help when she told the palace that she was experiencing suicidal thoughts.

The following day on GMB, the journalist stormed off the set during a row with Alex Beresford, who said that Meghan was ‘entitled to cut [him] off’.

Later that day, ITV confirmed that Piers had ‘decided it was time to leave’ GMB.

It then emerged that a formal complaint had been lodged with both ITV and Ofcom on behalf of Meghan, and that Piers had quit after refusing to apologise live on-air.

Speaking about his departure, Piers said: ‘I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that’s entirely their right.

‘I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she’s done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible.’

Piers added: ‘I think it’s fair to say, although the woke crowd will think that they’ve cancelled me, I think they will be rather disappointed when I re-emerge. I would call it a temporary hibernation.’
