Kane showed how much the WWE Hall of Fame means to him as he fought back tears when The Undertaker announced his induction.

The legendary star – whose is now Mayor Glenn Jacobs in Knox County, Tennessee – has terrorised his opponents ever since making his debut in the company back in 1995, and his legacy was cemented two years later when he made his first appearance as the Big Red Machine.

Undertaker – his on-screen brother, long time rival and real life friend – revealed the news while the pair were both guests on The Bump, as he said: ‘It is truly my honour to announce that you, Kane, will be the next inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame – the class of 2021.

‘Well deserved, much earned and couldn’t be more proud of you brother!’

Kane was visibly overwhelmed by the announcement – much like Eric Bischoff and Molly Holly after their own inductions were revealed – and he even asked if the Dead Man was ‘serious’.

‘I’m definitely serious! There’s no Hall of Fame without Kane, I can promise you that,’ he smiled. ‘You are the man!’

‘That means a lot, so thank you, very much,’ the former world champion replied. ‘If it hadn’t been for people like you… nothing.’

Taker added: ‘You earned every bit of it brother.’

The Hall of Fame ceremony takes place April 6 on the WWE Network for fans outside the United States – with US fans tuning in on Peacock – with Kane, Bischoff, Molly Holly and The Great Khali joining last year’s planned class.

The likes of John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield, the Bella Twins, the British Bulldog and the nWo will take their rightful places.

However, wrestler turned Hollywood star Dave Bautista – known to WWE fans as simply Batista – won’t be joining them as planned, and he will instead be inducted some time in the future.

He tweeted this week: ‘To the @WWEUniverse Unfortunately due to previous obligations I am unable to be a part of the @WWE #HOF this year.

‘By my request they have agreed to induct me at a future ceremony where I’ll be able to properly thank the fans and people who made my career possible #DreamChaser’.
