RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne has hit back at radio stations who have refused to play or censor new single, Bitch On Heels.

The Liverpool drag queen, who won the first season of the international smash hit, has joined forces with legendary Diane Warren for her new single.

However, on the song’s release, BBC Radio 2 only played up to the chorus and Gaydio decided to beep out the word ‘bitch’.

The Vivienne told Metro.co.uk: ‘The songs lyrics are tongue in cheek and definitely not meant to offend anyone!

‘It’s written by the biggest songwriter in the world who is currently up for an Oscar. It’s just a big fun pop track about having two sides to your personality.

‘I’ve read lots about how the word bitch has been reclaimed as a term of power, especially by artists such as Madonna and Doja Cat, so the controversy is surprising.’

Several artists have stirred controversy with use of expletives, but have gone on to become iconic hits and chart toppers.

This includes Madonna’s hit Bitch, I’m Madonna, Meredith Brooks’ classic hit Bitch, and Doja Cat’s Boss Bitch.

As a result of the limited swearing allowed on television and radio, stars have since been forced to get creative in order to get their songs on air.

Britney Spears, who later received anthem Work Bitch, had previously evaded censorships with her song If You Seek Amy in 2008.

Phonetically, it says ‘F**k Me’.

Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B also came under fire for their song WAP (meaning Wet Ass P***y), and created a ‘radio friendly’ version declaring ‘wet and gushy’ instead.

Metro.co.uk has contacted the radio stations for comment.
