Married At First Sight Australia saw one of its season 8 stars arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs ahead of their debut on the reality series.

Chris Jensen, 32, faces one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and was due to appear in court at the Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday, but his hearing has since been postponed.

He is now due in court on April 23, after being granted bail in 2018.

Chris was arrested alongside three others and is facing one charge of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing used utensils or pipes and possessing anything used in commission of a crime.

Under the Drugs Misuse Act, the reality star also faces two counts of possessing property suspected of being proceeds of an offence.

A spokesperson for the Queensland Courts and the Department of Justice Attorney-General confirmed the charges to Daily Mail Australia.

According to Australian publication The Courier Mail, Chris was last seen in court in October last year.

It comes as viewers saw Chris make his debut on the eighth season of Married At First Sight Australia currently playing out on screens down under.

He was a late arrival to the show, joining in week three of the experiment and tying the knot with bride Jaimie Gardner.

Chris only lasted one week as he sensationally quit MAFS Australia, after accusing wife Jaimie of being ‘fake’ and asking him to ‘pretend’ for the cameras to keep them in the show.

In recent episodes, fans watched on as Chris and Jaimie had a tense conversation following an explosive showdown off camera.

‘Did you, or did you not say to me that you wanted me to pretend for another week and stop being so nice to you because it was making you look like a b**ch?’ Chris was seen telling Jaimie, who denied doing so.

Her denial led to Chris packing his bags and leaving the experiment for good.

He hit back: ‘I won’t be staying in this room with you, I will not be having anything to do with you because you are not the person you perceive to be. If you’re going to put an act on for the cameras, that’s fine. I don’t need to be treated like this. I’m so done with this.’

‘I’m not going to pretend we’re all good for another week just because you wanted me to,’ he vented. ‘I’m not good enough for you. The lie is done.’

Not willing to wait for the next commitment ceremony, Chris told producers he was done and walked.

They were one of three couples to join the show in week three, including MAFS Australia’s first ever bisexual groom.

UK fans will get to see all the action unfold as season seven and season eight of MAFS Australia is set to hit British screens and return to E4 later this year.

Season six was the latest series of the show to air in the UK, with viewers still getting over the drama-filled roller-coaster it brought with it.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to a spokesperson for MAFS Australia.

Married At First Sight Australia is available to stream on All 4.
