Charlotte Ritchie is being put to the test as she takes on the Taskmaster with Lee Mack, Jamali Maddix, Mike Wozniak and Sarah Kendall.

They will be set a series of fiendish tasks by the master himself Greg Davies, and episode two sees Charlotte try to get to grips with static electricity.

Viewers will recognise her from comedies such as Ghosts, Feel Good and Dead Pixels, but she also had a starring role in BBC drama Call The Midwife.

The actress appeared in the medical drama, about a group of midwives in East London in the 1960s, for four seasons.

Who did Taskmaster’s Charlotte Ritchie play in Call the Midwife?

Barbara later changed her name to Barbara Hereward when she married her partner Tom Hereward.

What happened to Barbara on Call the Midwife?

Barbara was diagnosed with septicaemia (blood poisoning) in series seven, which she initially believed to be a cold. Her health later worsened and she was admitted to hospital where she spent several days.

The nurse appeared to get better briefly, however the septicaemia had caused tissue damage in three of her fingers, effectively ending her midwifery career.

Barbara’s health later worsened and she died with Tom and her close friend Phyllis by her side.

Speaking about her decision to leave the series, Charlotte said: ‘It felt like the right time and I though I should keep moving, keep trying new things.

‘I never want to get complacent or be in one place for too long.’

When is Call the Midwife 2021 on?

The upcoming series will be Call The Midwife’s 10th run, and will be set in 1966.

A start date for series 10 has not yet been revealed, but the series is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

It was last on air on Christmas Day 2020 for a special festive episode.
