Faryal Makhdoom has revealed how she and husband Amir Khan got past the claims of him cheating after finding out she was pregnant with her second child,

The couple have spoken out about the difficult time their marriage faced in their new documentary, Meet The Khans: Big In Bolton.

Faryal, 29, says on the show, via The Sun: ‘We’ve moved on. The past is the past, we were young, we grew up together – the bad and the good.

‘Amir was so famous and so young when I first started dating him and married him, and now it’s like… he’s an old man!’

She says her second pregnancy is what inspired her to make it work with Amir, 34, adding: ‘Me being a young girl, I would feel kind of betrayed.

‘My marriage did go into a really bad place where it was like, “That’s it, there is no turning back.”

‘But I found out I was pregnant with my second child, so she was like such a blessing, my little angel. I thought, “For my children’s sake, I’m going to make this work.”’

She told a therapist on the show that she believes that Amir cheated due to missing out on the things most people do when they are young as he was always training for boxing.

‘I saw a great guy who had potential to change,’ Faryal said. ‘And being the father of my children, it was like I wanted to try harder. I don’t think I wanted to give up.

Faryal added that she finds it ‘so hurtful’ when people call her a ‘doormat’ or a ‘gold-digger’ after she had initially planned on a career in corporate law before joking: ‘But then when Amir came into my life I was just like, “Forget school, I got myself a millionaire.”’

Amir and Faryal have been married since 2013 and had their first child, Lamaisah, in 2014 and have since had another daughter, two-year-old Alayna, and son Muhammad, one.

Meet The Khans: Big In Bolton is available to stream on BBC iPlayer from Sunday, March 28.
