Louis Theroux has been pictured meeting Tiger King’s Carole Baskin for a new documentary.

The Netflix star made headlines – and landed a Dancing With The Stars stint – after appearing in the documentary about her rivalry with big cat owner Joe Exotic.

Joe is currently serving time in prison for animal abuse and the murder for hire plot against Carole.

Now, 10 years on from when he last met Joe in America’s Most Dangerous Pets, the filmmaker is meeting up with Carole for what is bound to be an eye-opening interview.

Mindhouse Productions shared a picture of the pair having a socially distanced meeting for the film, which they revealed is set to air on BBC Two.

Sharing the photo on Twitter, the company added the message: ‘At last! @louistheroux finally meets @carole_baskin, a decade since first filming with Joe Exotic. A brand new documentary (with confirmed title) Louis Theroux: Shooting Joe Exotic. Coming soon to @BBCTwo and @BBCiPlayer.’

We’re expecting some more subtly probing questions and GIF-able moments from Louis, as well as some iconic quotes from Carole.

Speaking of the feature-length special Louis, 50, said: ‘This is one of those quintessentially American stories, taking place in the heartland of Oklahoma, with a cast of characters almost too colourful and larger-than-life to be believed.

‘I spent eight or nine days filming at the park back in 2011, over the course of three separate visits. I’d forgotten how much we shot until I went back into the footage during lockdown. It’s extraordinary how much was there.’

He added: ‘Since then the story just got stranger and bigger, and in going back at the end of last year, I uncovered a real-life drama that took me in directions I never could have expected.’

In the special, Louis is set to explore who the real Joe Exotic is, what happened to him since they last met, and the team working on getting Joe, 57, out of prison.

Joe, real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, has always maintained his innocence, however he was denied a presidential pardon from former president Donald Trump in January.

He is reportedly planning on releasing a shoe line to mark the one year anniversary of Tiger King.
