Matthew Wright was left raging at Dr Beverley Turner for spreading ‘paranoid conspiracy nonsense’ on This Morning

Viewers were also left aghast at her ‘anti-vaxxer’ views, which Matthew compared to ‘neo-Nazi’ ideas that only the fittest should survive after Dr Beverley suggested that not everyone would need to be vaccinated.

The World Health Organisation and the UK bodies have ruled that the approved coronavirus vaccines are safe and effective, and it is vital for as many people as possible take them when offered in order to beat the current pandemic.

Dr Beverley began by musing on why vaccine passports may be brought in for people to travel or to visit places such as restaurants, claiming that they were one step away from having ‘microchips’ implanted in people’s arms.

Matthew was seen holding his head in his hands as she claimed: ‘We have to ask, what is the point of this passport? It isn’t to stop people from dying and therefore what is it?’

Dr Beverley claimed that the government were ‘not being honest’ and that the passports were more to do with ‘Big Pharma’ than the virus.

She added: ‘I for one will not be having a vaccine passport – it will be on our phones to start with.

‘Inevitably technology is unreliable, it’s difficult, the batteries go, the apps need updating, the facts may not be accurate on it. Where this ends – and I know this sounds like the stuff of madness, and 12 months ago you would never hear this come out of my mouth – but this does end with a little tiny microchip in our hands so it’s easier to get in the pub and out.’

Matthew then lost his cool later in the debate as he hit back at herd immunity, telling Dr Beverley: ‘The biggest problem facing the world is virus mutation.

‘With vaccination, people that are vaccinated are broadly protected but within the other community, the non-vaccinated community, the virus can mutate. If the virus was to mutate to a form that would cause the vaccine not to function, we’d go right back to stage one.’

After she interrupted him, he raged: ‘Well, I did listen to you Beverley, as quietly as I could, talking paranoid conspiracy nonsense, quite frankly with an evident lack of science.

‘The idea that you’re still talking about herd immunity which does not exist without vaccination, you are talking about, essentially, neo-Nazi ideas – letting the weak die and only the strong will survive. It’s an absolute outrage.’

She hit back: ‘The fact that you’re comparing it to Nazis when we’re being told we have to show our papers before we go into a restaurant, Matthew, is just ridiculous.

‘I am talking about community immunity, which comes from the vaccination which we have done really, really well. There is a lot to be happy about here – let’s celebrate what we have and take a step back before we make massive decisions about our future.’

Viewers took to Twitter to share their shock at the debate, writing: ‘why are you allowing a conspiracy theorist try to discourage your millions of viewers trying to get vaccinated?’

Others added: ‘she is so selfish! Get her off our screen!!!! Matthew is absolutely spot on!!!!!!’ and ‘They really shouldn’t let her on. She’s so reckless in what she says. Bravo Matthew.’
