Rising rapper OG YD killed in freeway shooting
Rising hip-hop star OG YD has been killed in a freeway shooting.
The 37-year-old, real name Martell Dean, died from his injuries after being shot in a car in San Diego last Saturday.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Dean and two others were travelling on south Interstate 805 near Imperial Avenue around 2:20am when he and one of the passengers were shot, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Graphic footage from the side of the road showed paramedics attempting to revive Dean, who had been in the drivers seat, while another passenger, a woman, appeared hysterical.
According to reports, the woman called 911 and said her boyfriend had been shot in the chest.
Dean was taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The other passenger was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and was seen holding a loth over his wound on his upper arm in footage.
San Diego local Dean was identified on Wednesday, with CHP officer Mary Bailey saying that their investigation had not yet been identified.
The investigation is ongoing.
OG YD was a rising star on the San Diego rap scene, and released the video for his song Roses four months ago.
Over the last year, he also released Came From Nothing, Nasty and Dope Spot.
