Fans Troll Bianca Andreescu Over Her Unawareness Regarding Rule Changes at Miami Open 2021

The Miami Open 2021 has just begun and World No.9 Bianca Andreescu was up against Tereza Martincova in the first round. In an epic encounter, it was Martincova who performed brilliantly under pressure. She didn’t lose her calm at any point and won the match in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match was 7(7)-6(5), 6-2.

While the match was going on, something intriguing took place on the court. In the first set Bianca Andreescu, Bianca while going for a shot, suddenly withdrew from it and looked at the chair umpire. She stopped the play and asked the chair umpire for a challenge. When she appealed, Martincova quite a unique reaction as if she was completely surprised.

Fans on Twitter are trolling and making fun of Bianca for the same. When she tried to challenge the call, the chair umpire reminded her the Hawkeye Live system has replaced the challenge system. It looks as if she isn’t fully aware of the rule change and that is why fans are mocking her.

Bianca realized her mistake soon and agreed with the chair umpire. Whatever be the case, it was a moment of fun for both Martincova and fans.

Set-1: Bianca Andreescu survives a close tie-breaker

Serving first, Tereza Martincova won the first game of the match quite easily. However, Bianca Andreescu struck back and equalized the scoreline in the second game. It was the fourth game that changed the shifted the momentum towards Martincova. The Czech player broke and extended her lead to 3-1.

However, Andreescu too broke in the next game to bring the margin narrower. Both the players were looking quite solid and were not ready to lose. The Canadian managed to level the scoreline at 3-3 again in the next game.

Again, after winning the seventh game, Martincova broke in the 8th game to widen the margin. She was leading 5-3 at this moment. She even managed to earn two set-points in the subsequent game but failed to capitalize on either of them. As a result, Bianca took advantage and won that particular game on her third break-point. She went on to win the next game as well and equalized the scoreline one again at 5-5.

The game soon entered the tie-breaker and both the players were not ready to lose. However, Andreescu managed to pull off a stunner and won the tiebreaker 7-5. Interestingly, Bianca is also leading in the second set as of now.
