Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s chaotic This Morning segment with James Martin was a prank for Saturday Night Takeaway, so we can all calm down now.

Viewers were left in shock as the This Morning hosts appeared to lose the plot during a cooking section, earlier this week.

Some even complained about their behaviour on social media, branding the them ‘rude’.

However, during tonight’s instalment of Saturday Night Takeaway, Stephen Mulhern announced that the whole thing was a secret competition set up by Ant and Dec, called ‘On Air Dares’.

In fact, the magician was standing behind the camera with huge place cards, ordering the pair to say and do certain things.

They were tasked with pretending they ‘had cramps’, as well as saying the words ‘moist’ and ‘big bush’ in normal conversation.

Ever the pros, Holly and Phil sailed through the prank and won more points than their ITV colleagues, Lorraine Kelly, Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard and the Loose Women panel.

Side note: Ben’s nipple comment didn’t appear to be part of the sketch, which makes that even more hilarious.

Saturday Night Takeaway fans were living for the chaotic scenes, and rushed to Twitter to praise the segment.

‘On Air Dares is possibly the best thing they have EVER done on Ant and Dec Saturday Night Takeaway,’ a viewer enthused.

A Twitter user replied: ‘Watching this on TV was funny but it’s even better watching Stephen howling whilst doing it  #SaturdayNightTakeaway.’

‘Oh my godddddd On Air Dares  #SaturdayNightTakeaway [sic],’ another agreed.

‘On Air Dares saved the show tonight that was a proper laugh #SaturdayNightTakeaway,’ one praised.

Lorraine teased that her bizarre interview with KSI this week – in which she screamed over a mouse and yawned throughout – wasn’t quite what it seemed.

Addressing speculation around their chat, she told viewers: ‘There was a great deal of concern for my wellbeing yesterday after that rather giddy interview with KSI.

‘Don’t worry, all is going to be revealed later in the week. That’s all I’m going to say.

‘Poor KSI, I did actually say to him afterward “sorry about that” but you’ll find out.’

We think she smashed it!

Saturday Night Takeaway continues on Saturday, at 7pm, on ITV.
