Smith’s Snaps crisps sold at Morrisons and Tesco recalled due to choking hazard fears
CRISPS by Smith’s Snaps are being recalled due to fears shoppers could choke on them.
The product recall applies to the spicy tomato flavour, which is sold by major supermarkets including Morrisons and Tesco.
Smith’s Snaps owner PepsiCo said some batches may be under-cooked and the crisp “noticeably harder than usual”.
This means it could present a choking hazard, and consumers are being urged to avoid eating the treats.
Affected products come in packs of eight, which weigh 13g each.
They have a best before date of May 29, 2021.

PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.
As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.
In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.
You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.
The crisps are sold at Asda, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Ocado, with prices starting from 99p at the latter two.
If you’ve bought the affected packs, you should contact PepsiCo’s customer service line on 0800 274777 to get a full refund.
You don’t need to have the receipt in order to get your money back.
PepsiCo is yet to confirm how many packs are being recalled, so we’ll update this article once we hear back.
It comes as Nestlé infant formula sold in the UK’s major supermarkets is also being recalled due to choking hazard fears.
Some SMA Wysoy cans have been found to contain pieces of blue plastic, meaning they’re unsafe to eat for babies.
