Ex-WWE star Gabbi Tuft posts topless selfie and candid ‘breast forms’ update on gender transition
Former WWE star Gabbi Tuft shared a powerful topless photo and opened up on her journey weeks after coming out as transgender.
The 42-year-old retired wrestler – who worked for the company as Tyler Reks between 2008 and 2012 – has opened up on her self-confidence during her transition as she posted a black and white snap with her top half pulled down to show the difference with and without a ‘breast form’.
She wrote: ‘When I present full female, yes, I wear breast forms. But why? I talk a lot about loving yourself and being happy not with just WHAT you are, but WHO you are.
‘However, there are certain physical aspects that assist me in being more confident and feeling as though I’m closer to my physical goal than I already am.’
Gabbi noted her ‘natural breasts are just slightly beyond the budding stage’, and she has noticed a different in the way she’s treated in public depending on whether or not she wears breast forms.
She continued: ‘Some of it though, is a direct result of the lack of confidence I feel without breast forms. Without them I have previously tended to keep my eyes down as I walk, act more shy, and overall be more introverted.
‘With breast forms though, I hold my head high, hair is out of my face, doors are opened and held open for me, people smile when I smile, and I’m far more talkative.’
And while she’s still ‘navigating’ her transition, Gabbi is feeling more confident to appear ‘without breast forms’ while still feeling like herself.
She continued: ‘It would feel awkward at first and I’m sure I would be nervous – BUT – my biggest moments of growth have always been when I’m at the precipice of a life changing moment and I say to myself, “Oh well, f**k it.” ‘
The powerful message comes after she recently opened up on finding her ‘authentic self’ in an emotional post about stripping away ‘the barriers that hide who you desperately desire to be’.
She captioned a nude picture: ‘What does your authentic self look like?
‘When you strip away all of the layers, all of the walls that have been built to protect your innermost being, when you remove the barriers that hide who you desperately desire to be – there you will find your true self.
‘Freeing this quelled spirit though, requires change, and like most change, it can be painful at first. The process opens up our shell and exposes us to the elements.’
Gabbi suggested she experienced ‘fear’ and ‘ridicule’ during her own journey, but admitted she feels ‘stronger’ after coming out on the other side.
She continued: ‘You may experience fear. You may experience ridicule. You may experience extreme emotions.
‘Navigating our way through these oceans though, is what makes us stronger. These seemingly harsh waters force our courage to rise, they solidify our strength and our confidence, and allow us to stand firm in WHO we were meant to be.’
Gabbi – who has received well-wishes from the world of wrestling – revealed the photo was her way of being ‘exposed to the world’ in the most authentic way possible.
‘When there is nothing left to hide, When fear is replaced with confidence, When you can sit exposed to the world as your authentic self,’ she wrote.
‘Your light will illuminate the darkness and your very breath, bathed in love, will extinguish every flaming arrow. It is then, you will veraciously, and finally be YOU.’
