***Warning: Line Of Duty series 6, episode 2 spoilers ahead***

Line Of Duty’s complicated tale continued on Sunday night with AC-12 seemingly no closer to catching the killer of Gail Vella.

They have, however, begun to narrow in on DCI Joanne Davidson (played by Kelly Macdonald) as her shady behaviour begins to unravel – starting with her fumbled report on journalist Vella, and also on her actions surrounding episode one’s armed robbery, when she should have been pursuing another lead.

Teaming up with Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper) – a young police officer with ties to the OCG (Organised Crime Group) – she later framed her ex Farida Jatri, leaving her burner phones at her house and making her appear like a scorned lover.

While AC-12 are dealing with all this, they managed to find one promising lead connected to Vella – her unaired TV report suggesting that senior police officers were connected to the sex crime ring Jimmy Savile ran.

But eagle-eyed fans may be one step ahead of the detectives when it comes to uncovering some essential players in the latest plot – with Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) listening to a partial audio recording belonging to Vella containing a mysterious voice.

Thanks to a hell of a lot of recent binge-watching ahead of the new series, viewers are convinced that it’s Jimmy Lakewell – the lawyer of Roz Huntley (Thandie Newton) in series four.

Jimmy, played by Patrick Baladi, was the best friend of Nick Huntley (Lee Ingleby), the solicitor husband of Roz.

Roz is currently in prison for the murder of Tim Ifield and perverting the course of justice – but is still married to Nick.

Could this be how the previous cases begin to intertwine with the latest one?

Fans certainly seem to think so.

We’ll have to wait a full week to find out what the hell is going on with the investigation, and who was on that tape.

On top of the tape, we have a serious amount of questions dying for answers.

Line Of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
