Ne-Yo tried to put the brakes in motion on having more children, but his wife has other plans as she has banned him from getting a vasectomy.

The So Sick singer is currently expecting another baby with wife Crystal Smith , who is pregnant with their third child.

It will be Ne-Yo’s fifth child overall as he shares two other children with his ex-wife Monyetta Shaw.

After creating half a football team, Ne-Yo did plan on leaving it at five kids but Crystal didn’t want to close the door completely.

Speaking to TooFab, Ne-Yo revealed: ‘She decided that she doesn’t want any more children, and I’m following her lead on that.’

However, he added: ‘No, no , no – not getting the surgery. Now mind you … my plan was to get the surgery, but she was like, “No, no, no, don’t get the surgery because if we ever decide we do want anymore kids then we can’t do it”.

‘I’m like, “You just said you didn’t want more kids?”

‘And she was like, “I don’t want no more kids right now, but what if I want some…” I’m like, “Oh”. So this last one is the plan, and then if God decides he wants us to have some more, I guess we’ll have some more.’

A vasectomy, or male sterilisation, is a surgical procedure to cut or seal the tubes that carry a man’s sperm to permanently prevent pregnancy.

The couple share sons Shaffer Chimere Jr, five, and Roman Alexander-Raj, two, while Ne-Yo is also father to Madilyn Grace, 10, and Mason Evan, nine.

They announced the pregnancy in February with a video of them standing close together in a candlelit bathroom while Crystal films them on her phone in the mirror.

Ne-Yo can be seen gently rubbing his wife’s baby bump with an arm over her bare chest.

The Masked Singer star also revealed how his marriage to Crystal was saved during the coronavirus pandemic.

‘The whole quarantine thing was kind of a blessing,’ he admitted.

‘It allowed me the time to lock back in with [my family]. Before the quarantine happened, we were definitely talking divorce, and the quarantine forced us to sit still, block out the noise from the world – you know the world can get very, very loud, and we tend to let the world’s opinion mean more in certain situations than it should.’
