Woody Allen says actors denouncing him and refusing to work with him again amid the sexual abuse allegations are ‘foolish’.

The Midnight In Paris director has denied ongoing claims that he sexually abused his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was a child.

These allegations have resurfaced due to HBO’s critically acclaimed documentary Allen v Farrow, which aired in the US this month.

In a new interview for CBS Sunday Morning which was filmed in 2020, Allen shared his thoughts on Hollywood stars who have expressed regrets over working with him.

Allen said: ‘I think they’re well-meaning but they’re foolish. All they’re doing is they’re persecuting a perfectly innocent person and they’re enabling this lie.’

Kate Winslet, Colin Firth and Little Women director Greta Gerwig are among the stars who have spoken out against Allen in recent years.

Allen, 85, directly addressed the allegations and said: ‘It’s so preposterous, and yet the smear has remained and they still prefer to cling to if not the notion that I molested Dylan, then the possibility that I molested her.

‘Nothing that I ever did with Dylan in my life could be misconstrued as that.’

‘There was no logic to it on the face of it.’

Allen went on to downplay his relationship with Dylan’s mother Mia Farrow and claimed: ‘I never lived with Mia, I never slept at Mia’s house in all of the years I went out with her. We had a relationship, but it was never going to be a marital relationship.’

The filmmaker was in a relationship with Farrow from 1980 to 1992 and they share one biological child, Ronan Farrow, while Dylan was adopted by both Allen and Farrow.

Allen is now married to Soon-Yi Previn, who was an adopted child of Farrow’s. They tied the knot in 1997 and share two children; Bechet and Manzie.

When asked if he knew the CBS interview would be held from airing until this year, Allen’s spokesperson told Variety: ‘No. It’s completely dishonest and scandalous. I hope future people will consider this before trusting the show.’
