Jimmy Fallon and Addison Rae have come under fire on social media over a segment from Friday’s The Tonight Shot Starring Jimmy Fallon.

TikTok superstar Addison was a guest on the show and Jimmy invited her to perform a series of extremely popular dances from the social media platform.

However, the way the segment was done has been criticized on social media due to the fact most of the dances were made by Black creators – who never get similar opportunities to showcase their work on big platforms.

The segment – which was titled Addison Rae Teaches Jimmy Eight TikTok Dances – saw Jimmy simply holding up signs showing the names of each dance while Addison performed the choreography.

When the segment was shared on Jimmy’s Twitter page, many were quick to question why the original dance creators were not visibly created, or even invited onto the show to perform their work.

The View’s Sunny Hostin stated: ‘This is a miss @jimmyfallon. Let’s give credit to the black creators……’

Social media users pointed out the fact the dances were mostly created by Black social media users, who never get invited to showcase their work on the platform

A Twitter user asked: ‘Why didn’t you invite the original Black creators to show you and highlight them?’

‘Give the Black people who CREATED the dances CREDIT and actual screen time… just ugh,’ another stated.

Many highlighted the issue with the way Black creators do not enjoy the same fame from their work on the app

One person fumed: ‘Jimmy, this was the perfect opportunity to invite the Black creator(s) of these dances and you missed it.

‘You need to be better than this if you have a platform and show of this size.’

Social media users called for the Black creators to be properly credited
Others asked why the show didn’t take the chance to involve the dance creators

Another person asked: ‘Where are the Black creators who made every single one of these dances at Jim??’

Jimmy and Addison are yet to comment but when the segment was posted on YouTube, a list of credits highlighting the creators of each dance was included in the blurd.

It reads as follows: ‘Do It Again: @noahschnapp. Savage Love: @jazlynebaybee, Corvette Corvette: @yvnggprince, Laffy Taffy: @flyboyfu, Savage: @kekejanjah, Blinding Lights: @macdaddyz, Up: @theemyanicole and Fergalicious: @thegilberttwins.’
