Kylie Jenner’s cameo in Cardi B’s music video for her number one hit WAP might have drew some criticism, but for Kylie – well, it was the highlight of her career.

Rapper Cardi, 28, had reached out to Kylie, 23, to be in her music video and it sounds like mum-of-one Kylie jumped at the chance.

In the latest episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, viewers were treated to behind-the-scenes footage of Kylie and Cardi mingling on set.

Kylie was joined by her mum Kris Jenner, 65, who was a big fan of her leopard print leotard and joked: ‘You should wear this to the Malibu house, but you might get funny tan lines.’

Footage then cut to Cardi coming over to Kylie and telling her how she good looks, with Kylie revealing just how ‘excited’ she was to be on set.

As they hugged, Cardi thanked Kylie for being a part of the video and revealed how much she had wanted her involved, as she told her: ‘You don’t understand I prayed.’

Forget launching her very own beauty brand, Kylie replied: ‘It’s the highlight of my career… I can’t wait.’

‘Your body looks… wow,’ Cardi said, with Kylie joking: ‘I’ve gained a little quarantine weight.’

Kylie was then seen strutting her stuff down a corridor, as a thrilled Cardi watched on and mum Kris, as always, was on hand to offer her support with her classic line: ‘You’re doing amazing, sweetie.’

Cardi’s video to WAP – her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion – came out in August last year and featured appearances from a whole host of stars, including Normani, Rosalia, Rubi Rose, and rappers Mulatto and Sukihana.

At the time, Cardi faced backlash for including Kylie, with some calling her cameo ‘unnecessary’ and others suggesting that her spot should have gone to a Black artist instead.

A petition was even signed by 64,000 people to have Kylie’s cameo removed.

‘Not Kylie Jenner the center of attention in a Cardi B music video starring all that black female excellence. Got my sis normani dancing in a box,’ one fan wrote.

Another said: ‘Normani did ALL this and Kylie walked down the hall and opened a door. If that’s not a perfect visual indication of Black women having to do the most and white women do the bare minimum to get somewhere, I don’t know what is.’

Cardi, however, hit back at Kylie’s critics and addressed tweets comparing her appearance to Normani’s in the video.

The Bodak Yellow hit-maker tweeted: ‘Normani is one of the best female artist that dances Like she dances her f***in ass off!Why would she open a door? Please tell me how that would make sense? The best part of the song is the beat &hook it what makes you want to shake your ass.

‘Not everything is about race.Theres issues out here in the world that it is about race that I preach all the time about. This is not about f***in race [sic].’

Explaining why she reached out to Kylie, Cardi pointed out that her husband Offset is good pals with Kylie’s on/off ex Travis Scott.

She continued: ‘Why did I put Kylie on my music video?she treated my sister and daughter so lovely at her kid bday party. Travis [Scott] and Set [Offset] are real close and Kris Jenner have giving me advice on certain things I ask for and her husband real cool with mine [sic].’
