Noel Gallagher has revealed his biggest regret from his time in iconic band Oasis.

The rocker, 53, has been reflecting on his days in the band and he admits the cancelled Paris gig that led to Oasis splitting in 2009 is always playing on his mind.

He and brother Liam Gallagher, 48, were due to head out on stage at the Rock en Seine festival, but the show was cancelled just minutes before it was scheduled to go ahead, with reports later revealing there had been a bust-up backstage.

Two hours later Noel posted a statement on Oasis’ website revealing he had quit the band.

‘It is with some sadness and great relief… I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer,’ his statement read.

Nowadays, Noel wishes he had gone through the show and one of his biggest regrets is not having the ‘memory’ of the Paris gig, after walking out.

He reckons that if Oasis had played, tensions between him and Liam would have boiled over on stage resulting in one ‘mad gig’ for fans.

Speaking to Daily Star’s Wired, Noel said: ‘We were getting p***ed and fighting and then me going, “F**k it, I’m going home, f**k off,” with the benefit of time, I don’t know whether it would have been better to stay and do the gig because the fight would have carried on to the stage.

‘Maybe not the physical fighting but the verbals between us. It would have been a mad gig.’

Noel said: ‘Sometimes I think, “I wish I had the memory of that gig,” that would have been the way to go out… but it had to happen.’

Speaking about his decision to leave the band, Noel has previously said that he ‘never had enough’ of Oasis, but he ‘did have enough’ of Liam and their relationship went ‘downhill’ after that.

The brothers have since been locked in a long-standing feud and Noel has said that he has no desire to reunite with brother Liam, despite fans holding out for that much-wanted reunion.

Those hopes were only fuelled by Liam seeming to reach out to Noel at the beginning of the year and hinting that an Oasis comeback could be on the cards.

Liam tweeted: ‘HNY Noel love you long time 2021 is our year c’mon you know LG x’.

It came after it was revealed in December that the siblings had earned a huge £5.4million in royalties in 2020 from Oasis’ back catalogue.

‘The figures are incredible given Noel and Liam haven’t had a record out together for over a decade,’ a source told The Sun. ‘It’s a testament to Oasis’ super-band status.’

The band’s final and seventh studio album, Dig Out Your Soul, was released in 2008.
