Amy Schumer has revealed her father has been hospitalised.

The comedian, 39, was inundated with messages of support from fans and her celebrity pals, as she shared a photo of her visiting her dad and sitting with him at his hospital bed.

Amy, sporting a face mask, snapped a selfie next to her dad Gordon, who has. multiple sclerosis (MS), and teased that he had been in an ‘unfortunate magician sawing accident’.

She wrote alongside her post: ‘I have terrible news. My father was in an unfortunate magician sawing accident. He has a good spirit through it all and we’re still hoping the magician will turn back up.’

Fellow comedian Nick Kroll teased back: ‘I have the bottom half. What’s it worth to you?’ while other stars including Olivia Culpo and The Bachelor’s Alexis Waters sent prayers Amy’s way.

The Trainwreck actress didn’t disclose why her dad has been admitted into hospital, but fans made sure to send over their well-wishes too.

Amy’s dad Gordon lives in an assisted living facility and uses a wheelchair. He was first diagnosed with MS when Amy was 12 years old and she’s previously spoken publicly about her dad’s condition.

She mirrored her relationship with her father in 2015 movie Trainwreck where her character, who is also called Amy, has a dad (also named Gordon) with MS.

Amy used the film’s comedy tour to raise over $176,000 (£127,000) for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and previously said of Gordon’s condition: ‘Some days he’s really good and he’s with it and we’re joking around.

‘And some days I go to visit my dad and it’s so painful. I can’t believe it.’

Earlier this month, Amy explained that she had finally been able to take her son Gene, two, to visit her dad, who has been shielding for the past year due to the pandemic.

Amy’s hospital visit came after she revealed she’s now had her first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

She decided to turn the whole affair into a real occasion and rocked her glitziest dress for the jab, cutting a hole in the arm especially.

Announcing she’d been vaccinated in true Amy fashion, she wrote: ‘I want to thank all the brave people in the medical field. But more than them I want to give a shout out to me. I’m awesome I love the people of New York. Even the annoying ones.’

Amy continued: ‘It’s nice to see all of them. I feel excited and hopeful. I hope you do too. #downtogown if you want to join me and support @pencilsforkidsinc take a pick of yourself getting the vaccine in your best suite or nicest dress. Use #downtogown (sic).

‘Nice way to show respect to the people working there who understand the enormity of what it is they are doing.’

Thanking medical staff, she added: ‘Thank you heroes. You are selfless and your humanity inspires us all. I love you New York and everyone working at this site.’
