Piers Morgan ‘won’t be replaced on Good Morning Britain as Susanna Reid takes centre stage’
Good Morning Britain is not planning to replace Piers Morgan anytime soon, with a focus on Susanna Reid taking centre stage, new reports claim.
After Piers epically quit the show at the beginning of the month over a row over Meghan Markle, questions over who could take a permanent position next to Susanna has been rife.
But, despite Piers claiming it took only 17 minutes for someone to make a pitch for his spot, the team will instead keep a rotation of presenters next to Susanna for the time being.
‘Susanna has proven herself a consummate broadcaster for the past ten years — and clearly has the star factor,’ a source told The Sun.
‘She is smart, feisty and opinionated. She may have been Piers’ foil for the past five years, but she’s so much more than this – and now it’s very much a case of The Susanna Show.
‘ITV have offered her their full backing, and she will have even more editorial say going forward.’
After his on-air row with Piers that caused him to storm off, Alex Beresford has been called for by fans to step up from weather presenter to the news desk permanently.
He has since hosted alongside Kate Garraway.
In Piers’s absence, Ben Shepherd has been filling in on a more regular basis.
But it was added in the new reports that Andi Peters could be in the running, after his upbeat nature as the competition host has become popular with viewers.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
