The Walking Dead season 10’s bonus episodes have landed the apocalypse show its lowest success to date – with viewers ranking it the show’s ‘worst episode ever’.

Diverged, which focuses on the fractured friendship of Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) was marked as the series’ lowest score on IMDb.

Receiving just a 4.5 score out of a possible 10 from registered users, the season 10 bonus episodes have proven to be somewhat hit and miss with viewers, as they fill in plot details about the survivors following the events of the Whisperer war.

Splinter, the sixth bonus episode which aired a week before Diverged, only ranked slightly better at 5.2.

Both knocked season seven episode swear from the lowest mark, which now sits in third place at 5.6.

In Diverged, following an argument with Daryl in previous episode Find Me, Carol returns to their settlement camp of Alexandria to help clear up the mess the Whisperers left behind.

It ended with Carol trying to set up a trap for a rat that is scurrying around the campsite, with viewers dubbing the extra hour of TV ‘empty and pointless’.

Entertainment site Showbiz 411 claims the show also hit a ratings low, coming in at under two million viewers tuning in on Sunday night to watch it.

There is one episode left of the added extra episodes – titled Here’s Negan.

The episode will focus on the once-fearsome leader’s life before he became a barbed-wire bat wielding psychopath who was eventually captured by Alexandria.

Instead, it will focus on his life before the outbreak, as he tries to help save his wife Lucille, who has cancer.

After that, the final season will air – wrapping up the show in 2022.

However, spin-off series focusing on Carol and Daryl has been confirmed, as well as numerous Rick Grimes movies, which have yet to be given a release date.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC in the US, and Mondays on Fox in the UK.
