Britney Spears has addressed the documentary exploring her controversial conservatorship and career that was released last month and says it left her ’embarrassed’.

Framing Britney Spears aired both in the US and the UK and took a look back over the highs and lows of Britney’s career in the spotlight and her relationship with the media.

Sharing her thoughts on the doc for the first time, Britney revealed to fans on Instagram that she ‘cried for two weeks’ and ‘still cries sometimes’, following it airing.

Taking to Instagram, Britney shared a clip of her dancing to Aerosmith track Crazy and explained to followers that she dances every night for her ‘sanity’.

She wrote: ‘My life has always been very speculated … watched … and judged really my whole life !!! For my sanity I need to dance to @iamstevent every night of my life 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 to feel wild and human and alive !!!’

Britney continued: ‘I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people  😳😳😳 !!! It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I’ve always been so judged… insulted… and embarrassed by the media… and I still am till this day 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 !!!!

‘As the world keeps on turning and life goes on we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people !!! I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in.’

Britney revealed that the doc had left her emotional, as she said: ‘I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!! I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness ✨🙏🏼 ☀️ !!!!

‘Every day dancing brings me joy !!! I’m not here to be perfect … perfect is boring … I’m here to pass on kindness 💋💋💋 !!!!’

Framing Britney Spears is a one-off documentary that focuses on the #FreeBritney movement and produced by the New York Times.

#FreeBritney supporters have criticised the court-mandated conservatorship the Baby One More Time hit-maker has been under since 2008, which is controlled by her dad Jamie Spears.

The episode saw those close to Britney speak out about the relationship she has with her father, as she is currently fighting a legal battle to have her dad Jamie removed as her conservator.

It also raised questions when it came to former interviews Britney had taken part in and the line of questioning, with the star constantly being asked about intimate details of her relationships.

Britney’s comments on the Framing Britney Spears documentary comes as the BBC has announced a new documentary that will ‘uncover the truth’ on her conservatorship.

As it stands, Britney is unable to make decisions surrounding her finances or career without her dad’s approval – Jamie is her legal guardian.

The doc, that will air on BBC Two, will see Bafta-winning journalist Mobeen Azhar explore Britney’s hometown of Kenwood, Louisiana and interview those behind the #FreeBritney movement.

‘I went to LA in search of the truth of how Britney Spears, one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, ended up in a conservatorship,’ Mobeen says of the documentary.

‘I found myself in a world of lawyers, superfans and paparazzi and spent time with many of the people who’ve had a front row seat in Britney’s life. This film taps into the energy of the #FreeBritney movement and questions the industry, fandom and the laws that facilitate conservatorships.’

The documentary, titled Britney, will air this spring on BBC Two.
