Dominick Cruz Not Giving Up on UFC Title Shot
Dominick Cruz is one of the most successful fighters in MMA history and is a former 2 time UFC bantamweight champion.
Cruz fought Casey Kenny at UFC 259, where he defeated Kenny via split decision. After winning the fight, Cruz became the most successful bantamweight fighter in UFC/WEC history with 13 wins.
Cruz has not been fighting frequently, and this was just his second fight in 4 years. He last fought in 2020 against Henry Cejudo. After his victory against Kenny, people started talking about a potential title shot for the former champion.
Dominick Cruz talks about the title
Cruz knows all about winning and being champion, The Dominator knows all about getting title opportunities and winning them.
” I’m here to compete, you can’t really force yourself into hope into like one set mindset where if I’m only going to fight for the title.” Cruz said.
Cruz’s record is outstanding, he has held multiple titles and was also the final WEC Bantamweight champion. Cruz is a veteran and knows all about performing at the highest level. He knows if he fights well and keeps moving up in the division, a title shot will eventually come.
While in conversation Cruz said,” I’m here working up the division just like I’ve always done like you said in 2009 I faced Joseph Benavidez for three rounds and that led me to the next fight which became a title shot.”
So it’s like each fight gets you closer to where you’re looking to be. I’m always looking to be at the top but I’m not sitting here like waiting for something, I just gotta take what comes and the only thing I got to wait on is my body being healthy, when my body is healthy I perform at a championship level.”
