Dua Lipa and Griff confirmed to perform at Brit Awards ahead of nominations reveal
The Brits are coming… and that includes Dua Lipa.
After a stellar year which saw her album Future Nostalgia reach number one in the charts and get nominated for album of the year at the Grammys, it has been confirmed that Dua will perform at this year’s Brit Awards.
The awards show usually takes place in February at London’s O2 Arena, but has been pushed back to May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Considering 2020 saw the release of Physical, Break My Heart, Hallucinate and Levitating, we can expect one hell of a bop fest.
The 25-year-old said: ‘I am so excited to be returning to perform for you all at The Brits this year. It’s going to be truly special to be back on stage in the UK.’
Dua is no stranger to the Brits, and in 2018 she made history as the first female artist to pick up five nominations, with two wins for British breakthrough act and British female solo artist, also performing New Rules on the night.
She returned in 2019 to perform One Kiss alongside Calvin Harris, which won British Single.
Joining Dua at the Brits is rising star award winner Griff, who will be getting a major profile boost by performing at one of the biggest music awards shows in the world.
The 20-year-old was named the winner of the rising star after being nominated alongside Rina Sawayama and Pa Salieu, and as of 2020, when Celeste won, the winners are given a performance slot at the awards.
She said: ‘Guys, pray for me!! I’m going to be in a room full of the biggest and best artists in the world, singing my little heart out. I can’t wait!’
Griff will also be announcing the Brits nominations alongside Nick Grimshaw today at 4pm on social media.
While it was a quiet year in terms of performances, there was plenty of incredible releases from British artists, including Dua Lipa, Little Mix, Yungblud and Sports Team.
Last year’s Brits saw performances from Harry Styles, Dave, Lizzo, Stormzy, Mabel, Lewis Capaldi, Rod Stewart and Billie Eilish, while Dave’s Psychodrama won British album of the year.
The Brit Awards will be held on May 11 at London’s O2 Arena, hosted by Jack Whitehall.
