Line Of Duty star Martin Compston only cares about two things, catching bent coppers, and watching Scotland win at the footy.

And luckily for him, he was able to do both while filming episode two of series six, and was seen screaming in the streets in between takes after his home country’s team won.

In a video shared by Martin today, the actor – who plays Steve Arnott on the much-loved BBC drama – was seen keeping an eye on the score of the Scotland V Serbia match with a phone hidden in his car.

He wrote alongside the clip: ‘With an ep 2 epaulettes spoiler out the way, I can reveal what happens when your in the middle of raiding bent coppers but [Scotland National Team] are in a penalty shoot out to end 20 year of heartache. Steve to Scots in point zero seconds.’

The video, shot in November 2020, saw Martin scream with joy and run around the streets as Scotland broke its 22-year losing streak to get into a major tournament, won against Serbia and landed a spot in Euro 2020.

The dramatic game came down to a penalty shootout to seal the team’s fate, having failed to qualify for the 10 tournaments prior.

Scottish David Marshall saved Aleksandar Mitrovic’s spot kick in the final showdown, giving the team a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win after a 1-1 draw.

The enormity of the win was not lost on Martin, who was a former professional footballer, and he was seen eagerly awaiting the news as a friend on the set filmed his intense reaction.

As the news broke, he immediately began yelling and screaming around the street and throwing his hands in the air in victory.

Let’s hope his character Arnott has as much to celebrate soon with the intense detective drama taking some new twists in the latest episodes.

It’s been revealed that DCI Joanne Davidson, is a bent cop, though there’s questions as to how willingly she has taken on that position for the Organised Crime Group (OCG).

Steve is finding himself torn between his loyalties as Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) has found herself in a new job, working under Davidson, with the pair getting closer by the day…

As a result, she seemingly threw Arnott under the bus by passing on information he gave her regarding investigations at AC-12.

But as the team continue to investigate the murder of reporter Gail Vella, it seems that Arnott may have had a break in the case with a mysterious recording found in the dead woman’s belongings.

Line Of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
