Ranvir Singh addressed the impact Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey has had, including on Good Morning Britain, as she questioned the details shared by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Following the interview airing, Piers Morgan sensationally quit GMB after five years, as he faced backlash for comments he made about Meghan and her two-hour long chat with Oprah.

The episode saw the former actress and Harry discuss their decision to leave the Royal family and move to America, with the couple making a number of revelations during the chat.

As well as claiming to have experienced racism within the palace, Meghan discussed her mental health struggle and revealed she and Harry actually got married three days before their televised wedding.

Meghan claimed that she and Harry shared personal vows in an official ceremony that took place in the garden with the Archbishop of Canterbury.

However, the Archbishop has now confirmed that while he did have private ‘meetings’ with Harry and Meghan, the pair’s official wedding was at Windsor Castle – with host Ranvir suggesting that the Archbishop’s comment will prompt ‘more questioning of all the details’ shared in the interview.

Ranvir speculated whether Meghan had been referring to a ‘blessing’ at home with Harry instead of a legal ceremony.

She said: ‘[Meghan] might have meant blessed? You were blessed. People have their vows blessed, don’t they and things like that. Maybe she just meant that?’

Reflecting on the furore that followed the Oprah interview, Ranvir alluded to Piers’ shock exit from GMB, as she said: ‘The problem for [Meghan] of course now is that all the furore that followed [the interview] and all that ricocheted out – which we’ve felt across the world… and right here – is that it does lend itself to more questioning of all the details in every part of the two-hour sit down that we saw.’

Piers decided to step down from his role as host on Good Morning Britain, following backlash over comments he made stating he ‘doesn’t believe’ claims Meghan made in the interview regarding racism and her mental health.

Meghan candidly spoke of feeling suicidal and alleged that she was shot down when she reached out to the palace for support.

Piers, who said he was ‘sickened’ by the Oprah chat, also became embroiled in an on-air row with his co-star Alex Beresford, that saw him storm off set, after he was criticised for continuously ‘trashing’ Meghan.

His departure from the breakfast show was announced later that day, with ITV releasing a statement that read: ‘Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

‘ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
