Ryan Reynolds has stoked the flames of a debunked conspiracy theory after joking that he’s ‘finally got 5G’ after getting his coronavirus vaccine.

The Deadpool actor got jabbed on Wednesday alongside his wife Blake Lively and, of course, documented the momentous occasion on his social media.

With his sleeves rolled up and a nurse administering the vaccination, Ryan smiles at the camera albeit his face covered with a mask.

‘Finally got 5G,’ he cheekily captioned the image, clearly mocking the false theory that coronavirus originated from mobile phones and the new 5G service.

The theory circulated at the start of the coronavirus pandemic last year but was soon debunked by scientists who found it has no effect on the human body.

In fact, in the UK a religious TV channel has been fined £125,000 after airing conspiracy theories about Covid-19 that were unproven, including the 5G myth.

Following an investigation by Ofcom, the communications regulatory body, concluded that the programme breached broadcasting rules by sharing ‘potentially harmful’ claims about Covid-19.

So obviously, Ryan was just being the jokester that he is.

He also quipped in his Instagram stories about his attire: ‘Science is sexy. The hat? Perhaps not.’

Comedian Rob Delaney couldn’t resist throwing a playful diss at Ryan’s outfit and commented: ‘Didn’t know The Cool Hat store did vaccines!’

Meanwhile, Ryan’s wife Blake shared a photo of her own vaccination and is seen smiling at the nurse.

She captioned the snap: ‘Find you someone who looks at you like I look at the heroic nurse vaccinating me. 💕’

Actress and singer Rita Wilson replied: ‘Pure love.’

Ryan, 44, and Blake, 33, have done well to get themselves protected against Covid-19 as the death toll in the US has reached 550,000.

The couple, who married in 2015, share three children; James, six, Inez, four, and Betty, one.

They’ve made sure to help other families in need during the pandemic and incredibly pledged $500k (£363k) each to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada.
