Bridgerton season 2 casts Merlin star in major new role and our hearts are burning
Bridgerton has cast two new faces for the Ton – and season 2 is shaping up to be incredible.
The team have reportedly signed up British actor Rupert Young as well as fellow Brit newcomer Charithra Chandran.
According to Deadline, Young – who is best known as Sir Leon in Merlin – will take on a particular ‘major new role’ which is not present in the books.
The site claims he will play Jack, who has a connection to one of the Ton’s notable families and will be key to a new mystery.
We’re ready to see what this team have up their sleeves.
The new season is due to begin production soon, with our beloved Duke and Daphne taking a back seat in the latest festivities as her oldest brother Anthony takes centre stage.
The Viscount character, played by Jonathan Bailey, had his heart broken during the first season, and has since vowed to find a wife… but not for love, rather than for a straight business deal so he can continue his frivolity.
But newcomer Kate Sharma (played by Sex Education’s Simone Young), soon catches his eye, and his plans may be thrown out the window as he falls in love.
Charithra will play Kate’s younger sister, Edwina.
The events of the upcoming season will be based on The Viscount Who Loved Me, the second in the Bridgerton book collection by Julia Quinn.
However, unlike the books, the cast is more diverse – with the Sharmas, who will be on Indian descent, originally being called the Sheffields.
It helped the series become Netflix’s most successful show ever as 83million tuned in during the first four weeks alone.
Bridgerton is available now on Netflix.
