Dick Van Dyke, 95, is an angel on Earth as he hands out wads of cash to jobseekers in need during pandemic
Dick Van Dyke has proved to be an absolute angel on Earth after he was spotted handing out wads of cash to struggling jobseekers.
The Mary Poppins legend wouldn’t have been judged for putting his feet up for the day but instead, he chose to drive down to the Malibu Community Labor Exchange on Civic Center Way to fulfill his good deeds.
The centre is a non-profit organisation which helps locals find day jobs in the area and it seems Dick was more than happy to pitch in, all despite him being high-risk of coronavirus at the grand age of 95.
In the middle of running errands around Malibu, Dick pulled up to the centre, parked outside, rolled down his window and began handing out wads of cash to jobseekers who were waiting in line to secure employment.
It’s not known if the jobseekers were aware of Dick’s celebrity but they were no doubt incredibly appreciative of the kind gesture.
Unemployment rates have skyrocketed across the US during the coronavirus pandemic and Business Standard reports that jobless claims have risen to 719,000.
Dick, who is still active in his elderly years, was later spotted doing his own shopping at CVS and even pushed his own trolley while exiting the store.
The actor, born in Missouri, is best known for his role as chimney sweep Bert in the 1964 children’s classic Mary Poppins, in which he starred alongside Julie Andrews.
He is also known for the films Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, What A Way To Go, The Morning After, The Dick Van Dyke Show alongside Mary Tyler Moore and The Carol Burnett Show.
Dick has been married twice; first to Margie Willett from 1948 to 1984, and then to current wife Arlene Silver, who he tied the knot with in 2012.
He is father to five children and five grandchildren.
