Francis Ngannou Says There’s No Argument on Who the UFC Heavyweight GOAT Is

When Stipe Miocic came face to face with “The Predator” Francis Ngannou, little did he know how quickly the bout would be over. Ngannou demolished him with a thunderous left hook in the second round itself to send shock waves across the UFC universe and become the UFC Heavyweight champion. This was the rematch of their first encounter, which happened in 2018 where Miocic had gotten the better of him.

But just like almost everyone in the world of UFC, Ngannou too considers Miocic to be the greatest Heavyweight mixed martial artist of all time.

Francis Ngannou confirms Miocic to be the greatest heavyweight in UFC history

In a recent interview, Ngannou explained how special it is to defeat arguably the best heavyweight fighter. The champ said, “Absolutely, I mean when you look at his statistics, there is no argument about Stipe being the greatest heavyweight in UFC history.”

He further says that fight Miocic was by far his best match. He had some fear before he faced him as the ghosts of their previous fight were looming over him. But he was determined to take care of the unfinished business this time around.

What’s next for Miocic?

The Ohio native will take some time off as he and his wife are expecting a baby in August of this year. The record holder of most title defenses is certain to make a strong comeback and is expected to push for the title bout soon.

Although Ngannou believes that their rivalry chapter is closed for good, he also believes Miocic has the right to face him again as he is worthy enough.

What’s next for Ngannou?

Though shadowed by the clouds of uncertainty, Ngannou is expected to face Jon Jones for his next fight. However, Jones has suggested that he will only fight if he gets paid for what he is worth.

Dana White, prior to the fight between Ngannou and Miocic, had announced that ‘Bones’ Jones will challenge the winner. However, he took subtle digs at Jones by suggesting Jones fight Israel Adesanya instead, as that would be easier for him. This recent back-and-forth saga has thrown Derrick Lewis in the title mix-up with Ngannou.

Regardless of conspiracy theories, one would want to see Ngannou take on Jones as this is a mouthwatering prospect for all UFC fight fans. Jones has worked hard to move up from light heavyweight to heavyweight division. It’s up to UFC to dissolve all the issues and get everyone to board the same ship.
