Jamie Redknapp revealed his eldest son Charley is recovering after he was taken to hospital for a hernia operation.
The football commentator, 47, shares sons Charley and Beau with ex-wife Louise Redknapp, and opened up on what the family have planned for the bank holiday weekend.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain, he explained their eldest child, 16, is recovering after the surgery.
‘Sunday will be Easter. My youngest has got a game on Friday. He’s in the academy at Chelsea,’ he told Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins.
‘Charley, my eldest boy, he’s 16. He’s just had a hernia operation so he’s out of action. No rugby for him for a while.
‘Looking forward to a nice weekend, it’s nice to have the sunshine.’
Jamie and Louise, 46, married in 1998, but called time on their marriage in 2017, after 19 years.
Their split raised eyebrows at the time, as it came shortly after the singer competed in Strictly Come Dancing, with Kevin Clifton.
While the former couple have remained close to take care of their children together, the mum-of-two expressed her regret at taking part in the BBC show – as she wouldn’t have walked away from their relationship otherwise.
‘If I’d done the show four years earlier, this wouldn’t have happened. I wouldn’t have walked away from my marriage,’ she penned in You’ve Got This.
She went on to explain that competing for the Glitterball ‘simply wasn’t worth putting anyone I loved or love through the heartache’.
While Louise acknowledged that the show reignited her career and opened up opportunities for her, she added: ‘I still wish I’d done things differently because I feel like I hurt a lot of people and I’ll always be sorry for that.’
Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays, at 6am, on ITV.
